INTERREG IIIC
Projekt RAMEA - Regionalized nAMEA-type matrix

The Mineral and Energy Economy Research Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences recently joined a partnership comprising organisations in the Netherlands, Italy and Poland on the RAMEA project, which kicked off with a three-day workshop in Godalming, Surrey. The partnership comprises:

  • ARPA with Emillia-Romanga in Italy (the lead partner)
  • TELOS with Noord Brabant in the Netherlands
  • The Polish Academy of Sciences with Malopolska in Poland
  • A consortium for the South East of England (led by the South East England Development Agency with the South East England Regional Assembly, the Environment Agency and Cambridge Econometrics) in the UK.

The project forms part of the GROW programme, funded through Interreg IIIC, which aims to establish a framework of co-operation, encouraging multinational projects to overcome the challenges associated with balancing the social, environmental and economic constraints, whilst achieving sustainable growth.

RAMEA exemplifies the best in European inter-state co-operation in the move towards a One Planet Economy. It aims to improve regional policies through the development of a new, state-of-the-art tool specifically designed to help regional policy makers identify and quantify the potential environmental impacts associated with regional policies, based on best practice and robust regional data.

Work will be carried out simultaneously in the four countries, with two further workshops later in the year to consolidate and agree a common methodology. The project is due for completion in October 2007 with a launch at Ecomondo the international Fair of Economy and Ecology in Rimini, Italy.
